I love candles especially scented candles. Why is it that most candles do not melt evenly? Most of the time the wicks appear to be centred and the candles are on a balanced surface. As the wick is lit the wax melts, but it does not melt in a perfect middle of the candle. The candle is off balance and no longer looks perfect. Because I like balance, this bothers me. I have the option to keep my candle balanced looking if I never light the candle; however, that would be rather silly. Candles are made to be lit so that they can bring light and warmth to a room.
'You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.' Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT)
The world is a dark place and needs you to light your candle. People need to hear your good words and see your good deeds so that they can know about the light of Truth. There are many reasons why you may hesitate to light your candle for the Lord. You may be afraid that your good words and deeds will be rejected by others or may not be perfect enough to be presented. Dear Sister or Brother in Christ, you are a light meant to be lit for the Lord. So shine for the Lord in word and in deed.
