About volunteering
The Salvation Army transforms many lives in many ways. One way is through its volunteering opportunities.
The Salvation Army’s largest network of volunteers is through its Family Stores. Family Stores operate to support local and regional community work, making a huge difference in people’s lives
Family Stores value all volunteers and encourage people to give back and help at the heart of their community. Volunteering at a Family Store directly helps your community!
Benefits of volunteering
Family Stores operate in the retail sector, a fast-paced and enjoyable environment to work in – no day is ever the same!
Family Stores have a range of crucial store functions that are critical to the success of the store. Your contribution will be obvious and satisfying, filling you with a sense of purpose and grace that contributing to helping over 120,000 New Zealanders in need, each year, brings.
You’ll join a great team, gain retail experience, and be involved in your community.
Training and qualifications
You'll join a great team, gain retail experience and on the job training, and you can achieve Service IQ NZQA Level 3 Retail.
How to volunteer
Find the Family Store you want to volunteer at and call, or pop in, and ask how to become a volunteer. The Family Store manager will talk you through the process.
