Have you ever stood in a supermarket check out line and found yourself drawn to the glossy woman’s magazines with their seductive captions?
Have you watched a movie or read a book that you know is not good for your soul?
I recently discovered a song that caused me to stop and think about what I feed my soul...
The lyrics go like this:
Sitting alone now, thinking about the things going on in side of me
I feel so angry, so sin-filled and I wonder how this could be
But now I remember what you said to me long ago
that what goes in you will one day surely show.
Garbage in, garbage out… what goes in is found out.
All can see what goes in me.
I pay the price.
Proverbs 4:23 tells us: “Above all else, guard your heart for everything you do flows from it.” There are times when we can easily open our heart and mind to the things that aren’t God honouring.
Scripture commands us to mediate on God’s Word; this will ensure that our heart stays pure. How much time you have spent meditating on God’s Word today?
Here are a few scriptures that could help:
Luke 6: 43-45
Psalm 1: 1-3
Psalm 119: 9-16
