International Women's Day: Chantelle Lindsey on sharing inspired music

Chantelle Lindsey, a young songwriter and musician from The Salvation Army Hamilton City Corps recounts how fortunate she was to have found both inspiration to write and a platform to perform during lockdown in New Zealand.

Kia ora! My name is Chantelle and I am from Hamilton City Salvation Army and I connect to God through music.

I just love music and throughout lockdown for me, I was able to hit pause on my life and I was able to use the time to connect to God and to build my relationship with him. He highlighted for me many verses and metaphors and messages as I studied the Word and I was able to put a lot of these into songs - and throughout the course of lockdown I was able to share some of my songs through Women's Ministries events, virtually.

That was really cool because it meant that I was communicating to women on the other side of the world who are probably going through a very similar - if not worse - situation than I was during lockdown.

And I thought it was so cool that I was able to share the words of encouragement and feelings of encouragement that God gave me to women on the other side of the world.

We're celebrating International Women's Day by sharing women's testimonies of leadership during COVID in New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa Territory. We will be releasing new videos daily, and joining a worldwide video montage on The Salvation Army International Social Justice Commission's Facebook Page on March 8th.
