The Lord is my Physician. He causes my body to heal, sometimes with the help of doctors, medicine and time. He also heals directly and completely. The Lord, my Physician is also my Creator so He knows just what I need. When I need healing, He may say, “Wait patiently.” That is when I spend time in the Great Physician’s waiting room. Waiting can be hard work. To be still and wait for the Lord can take a lot of discipline when my instinct tells me to do or act. My Physician knows that about me and tailors the waiting period just for me.
When the words “wait upon the Lord” mean serve the Lord or be attentive to the Lord my rebel nature can rise up and make it difficult for me to trust and obey. The Lord is my Physician; I follow His prescription for life and Health. Sometimes my body is sick and weak, but my spirit is robust. Other times it is my spirit or soul that is weary and in need of attention. He anoints my head with oil. The Holy Spirit speaks to my brain and intellect as well as my heart, soul and spirit. My cup of joy is running over as are my cups of peace and healing. I just have to drink and wait upon the Physician. I wait as a patient of the Lord waiting patiently for the Lord
Psalm 27
“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14 (NLT)
