The Lord is my Shepherd.  He prepares a table for me in the presence of my enemies. Psalm 36:8, 9 “They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.” (NLT) My cup of blessing is flowing over.

This is a feast. No person will go hungry at the table of the Lord, the King. It is good to sit at a table and share bread with both friends and those who are different from me. They may seem like enemies. Bridges are built through the kindness of a good meal. When we feed our enemy we help to melt away hostilities. You feed us from the abundance of Your house.

Help me to be generous like You. We drink from the rivers of Your delight. Jesus blessed then gave away the bread and fish to all who were hungry. Jesus blessed and shared a last meal with His disciples even knowing who would betray, deny and desert Him. The bread of communion that I share is the bread of service deliberately or randomly given in Your name. Many who receive the gift of service don’t care about You or me, but their hearts are warmed by the kindness. You are my example. All humanity finds shelter, food and rest in the shadow of Your wings and from the abundance of Your house.

“’If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.’” Romans 12:20 (NLT)
