The Shepherd and His sheep- Part 3

Reflections on Psalm 23 and God the shepherd.

The Lord is my Shepherd. I will follow Him even when the charted path leads through the dangerous valley.

When we are ascending to the higher meadows we go through some deep crevices. If a rain storm were to occur, a flood could happen.

I am like a sheep. I do not like challenging places. I fear the storms…so Shepherd, can we just stay in the green meadows where it is safe? What’s that you say? The summer is on its way and the green meadows will turn brown and the quiet streams will dry up? We must go up to the summer meadows? It is for my own good. Everything I need…

Yes, even though we have to go through the dark, scary valley, I will follow Him. The Lord is my Shepherd. I am trusting Him, who has called me by my name and paid my ransom, to deliver me from the flood and fire. The Holy One has promised. I trust Him to save me.

“But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, ‘Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.’” Isaiah 43:1-3 (NLT)
