The Lord is my Shepherd and I want to thank Him for all He does for me. What do I have to give, sacrifice to my Shepherd? My wool is His already. My life and breath are His. All I use in my life, what I consider to be my possessions are provided to me by the hand of God. What can I give as a thank offering?
Psalm 50 tells me that sticking to the path – following and obeying are ways I can truly express my thanks. He does not want sacrifice, He wants obedience. Sincere thanksgiving is taking time to listen and love God. It is a great gift to sit at the feet of God to listen and enjoy His Presence. God does not want or need my rituals or religion. He wants me to be in a right relationship. I express my thanks by how I live, how I think and how I listen.
The Lord is my shepherd. He leads me by still waters. He lets me feast in and rest in safe green pastures. He leads me on the path of righteousness and restores my soul. I can count on his reputation. Love and Truth lead me. Goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life. I shall dwell in the house of the Lord – in His holy mountain all the days of my life. There in His Presence is fullness of joy. The Lord is my Shepherd and I feast at the table He has prepared. How can I thank Him enough? Simply live for Him.
Psalm 50:14, 23 “Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High…But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.” (NLT)
