February 14th has been a day to celebrate love - and we want to celebrate the love of our friends. Why not celebrate 'PALentine's Day' with us, by sending one of our custom cards in person or online to someone who has enriched your life?
We are passionate about celebrating one another, and while Valentine's Day is an awesome way to awhi (affirm) romantic relationships, we want to make it a time to tautoko (back up, reinforce and support) the friendships that bless us too. Why not print some PALentine's cards for your group, setting, church or workplace to make sure everyone has the opportunity to be celebrated this February 14th?
'Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.' John 15:13
PALentine's Day Cards
We got a young Salvationist from The Salvation Army in Upper Hutt named Crystal to hand-draw these PALentine's Day cards for you! Crystal designed art that reminded her of pals and friendship. Why not think of some people who have blessed your life and made it more beautiful, or helped you with a word in season, or got you through a tough time? What about someone you would like to get to know more, but haven't had the opportunity to yet? Write something kind about a pal, new or established, and pass it on!

Printing PALentine's Day Cards
Find all the files you need to print or share the PALentine's Day cards at the bottom of this page. Use these as traditional cards with a message inside, blank or as postcards that people can write on and share in the meeting or in their homes! The message of the love of God and the meaningful place friendships have in our community could be the healing word people need this season.
Message inside reads: ''This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.’ - I John 3:16. PALentine’s Day is a way to celebrate the friendships in our lives that make us richer and more complete. Happy PALentine’s Day. You make life better.'
Who is Valentine, anyway?
Valentine's Day began in order to honour the brutal martyring of a 3rd-century priest, whose subversive acts under Roman rule included marrying young couples to save them from war and refusing to worship anyone but Christ because he loved him.
Activist Shane Claiborne writes, 'Here's one of my favourite stories: Valentine became friends with the daughter of his captor. Just before he was executed, Valentine healed the blind daughter of the jailer, restoring her vision, a dazzling act of enemy-love. As the legend goes, on the day of his execution he left the jailer's daughter a note signed: 'Your Valentine' - undoubtedly sparking what has become a classic Valentine's tradition around the world of sending little notes to people we love (or people we would like to love).'
May PALentine's Day be a reminder of those subversive acts of healing and hope - to our friend and foe alike - because Jesus loves you first.
That's a love worth celebrating!
